David and Frank own a California-based software company that had started outsourcing programming work to Ukraine.
David is a longtime hobbyist in learning Languages and speaks pretty good French, rusty Spanish and learned years of Latin.
Katya lives in Kiev, and speaks Russian at home, but learned Ukrainian after the breakup of the Soviet Union. Katya studied in America and is fluent in English.
David decided to learn Russian as a hobby, just to be friendly with the outsourcing
team. Katya offered to help using Skype. David found this approach was far more
effective than his evening French lessons at University of California, or private
instructors he paid to meet in coffee shops.
Frank put together our “Academic Manager” administrative application, and we opened the doors.
